Consolidating the air link between Brazil and Côte d’Ivoire was at the centre of a meeting held in Abidjan on September 8 between the Brazil–Côte d’Ivoire mission and the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Amadou Koné.
The meeting brought together authorities, TAAG representatives and participants from tourism, media and business. Discussions highlighted the initial results and potential of the São Paulo–Luanda–Abidjan route, inaugurated on April 4, 2026, as well as possible synergies with Air Côte d’Ivoire.
A bridge between Latin America and West Africa
More than a new flight option, the connection positions Abidjan as a strategic gateway for Latin American travellers interested in tourism, culture and economic opportunities across the region. The stop in Luanda expands this network and supports integration between Portuguese-speaking countries and West African markets.
For tourism, the service makes it easier to develop combined itineraries, experience-led travel and programmes for groups, operators and media. For business, it provides concrete infrastructure to bring companies, investors and institutions closer together.
Connectivity with room to grow
The meeting explored synergies that could expand regional passenger distribution from Abidjan. Air Côte d’Ivoire’s participation in this ecosystem could strengthen connections to other African destinations and make journeys more integrated.
Jennifer Curcio, the Bureau’s Director for Brazil and Latin America, emphasised connectivity’s role in the destination’s promotion strategy. The meeting reinforces a shared commitment to turn the route into a consistent corridor for tourism, exchange and economic development.
